TYLER, Texas - At its founding, American Standard was a pioneer in developing boilers as the American Radiator Co. Now the heating and air conditioning brand returns to its roots introducing new premium non-condensing oil- and gas-fired cast iron water boilers.

“We want to help our family of distributors and dealers capture a share of the growing radiant field,” said Jamie Byrne, American Standard vice president of sales. “Boilers are powering many must-have amenities in today’s home, including heated towel bars, shower systems, and snow melt systems, as well as radiant heating.”

American Standard’s oil-fired boilers feature a three-pass cast iron heat exchanger that is designed to resist thermal stress, maximize heat transfer, and deliver Energy Star® qualified efficiency performance with up to 86.7 percent AFUE. A customized Riello burner is finely tuned to optimize combustion.

The gas-fired boilers have single-pass design, maximizing heat transfer and fuel efficiency up to 84.3 percent AFUE for direct vent and 83.6 percent AFUE for natural draft models. The stainless steel tubular burner resists corrosion for long life and delivers optimal combustion. An electronic ignition control automatically ignites the burner and regulates the gas supply for safe, efficient operation.

The boilers are designed to be fast and easy to install. The temperature-pressure gauge and adjustable supply water thermostat are factory installed on all gas- and oil-fired models. A quarter-turn brass boiler drain is factory installed on all gas models and ships with oil models. Utility connections are conveniently located at the back of boiler. The boilers have a compression-type terminal strip with color-coded wires to ease field wiring and service. Several burner and circulator pump operating configurations are provided for application flexibility.

The totally enclosed boiler and controls are also designed for quick access during installation or service. The front and top jacket panels simply snap off. Technicians can remove the entire boiler jacket quickly for easy handling and service.

“We were leaders in the boiler business 100 years ago, and we’re back in business with a design destined to recapture that leadership,” Byrne said.
