New geothermal AAF®-HermanNelson® unit ventilators combine the classroom IAQ benefits of unit ventilator systems with the high efficiency of geothermal water-source heat pump (WSHP) systems, states the manufacturer. They are available in sizes ranging between 2 and 4-1/2 tons cooling capacity (7-15.8 kW). WSHP units can provide both heating and cooling using existing hot water piping for an easy upgrade from heating-only systems. Features include Gentle-Flo™ air-moving technology, extra-study chassis to resist wear and tear, and MicroTech II® controls with Open Choices™ for easy integration into the building automation system. Units match the size of the previous generation of unit ventilators to minimize remodeling costs. Existing water piping can be used for the water loop to minimize piping expenses.
