ATLANTA - Cingular Wireless has introduced a portfolio of wireless solutions for field service operations that the company says can be activated directly from a variety of wireless handhelds for quick and easy deployment.

The suite of three field service automation solutions, developed for Cingular by Corrigo Inc., are designed to match the level of functionality and support a company requires. The Web-based applications are available directly from and billed by Cingular Wireless. They can be deployed via a wireless download to Cingular-powered devices that use such platforms as BlackBerry, Pocket PC, and Java.

"Cingular's new field service automation solutions provide businesses of all sizes with a cost-effective and compelling, ready-to-use suite of applications they can deploy quickly and easily for a fast return on their investment," said Jeff Bradley, vice president, business data services, Cingular Wireless. "These complement our comprehensive portfolio of offerings to companies with operations in the field - including push-to-talk, a broad selection of wireless e-mail platforms, location-based services, and other vertical solutions - to help them reduce costs while improving the productivity of their employees and enhancing customer satisfaction."

Cingular is targeting companies in a broad range of industries, including commercial and residential construction, HVAC, facilities and property management, and others. Businesses can choose from:

  • Cingular Work Order Manager - an entry level solution designed to replace a technician's clipboard and paper-based work orders with electronic forms that are updated in real-time on wireless handhelds. Using GPS technology, dispatchers can find the technician who is closest to a job location. According to the company, this provides control over the service delivery process and improves productivity while reducing or eliminating paperwork normally done in the field.

  • Cingular Service Manager - includes the functionality of Cingular Work Order Manager plus advanced features designed to allow companies to automate all of their mobile service operations from the initial service request through invoicing, including scheduled and preventative maintenance.

  • Cingular Professional Service Manager - an advanced solution designed to integrate directly with a customer's billing, contract, and inventory management systems.

The solutions are being offered through Cingular's B2B direct sales organization. For more information, visit www.cingular.com.
