ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has launched a new feature on its Web site - the Legislative Action Center - containing resources to help contractors voice their agenda.

The Center includes an Elected Officials portion that allows contractors to search for information on their elected officials by state or locale and an Issues section that includes news and information about important issues, summaries and status information about key bills, key congressional roll call votes, and tips about communication with members of Congress, as well as general information about the legislative process.

The resource also has an Election section that provides information about candidates for upcoming elections and the ability to register to vote.

Additionally, there is a Media portion that enables users to find and contact national and local media.

"There are so many important issues, like Association Health Plans and repeal of the death tax, that could have a big impact on contractors," said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA's president and CEO. "The Legislative Action Center provides numerous resources to help contractors get involved and keep abreast of legislation that affects the HVACR industry and their businesses."

Additional features of the Legislative Action Center include the opportunity to sign up for the "Action E-List" to get an alert when involvement can make a difference or for "MegaVote" to get representatives votes weekly by e-mail. Contractors can also download "Write to Congress" Web stickers to put on their Web sites to encourage site visitors to advocate for important issues.
