Don't Procastinate. Nominate.

The NEWS has extended the deadlines for nominations in its Best Instructor and Best Trainer contests, sponsored by hilmor. Entries may be submitted through June 24, meaning there is still time to acknowledge the individual most responsible for your industry success. And, come on, don’t you at least owe them the three minutes of your time? That’s all it will take to complete the entry form?

If chosen as the winner, those three minutes could forever change this individual’s life. A perfect example: Michael Leonard, teacher, Interactive College of Technology, Chamblee, Ga. When I called Leonard to inform him he had been chosen as the 2012 winner, he went speechless. In a later meeting with him, he assured me that he thought I was punking him. Now, he’ll forever be recognized as one of the industry’s best. Talk about a resume builder.

The goal of the contest is to recognize and reward HVACR instructors and trainers who have dedicated their careers to enriching the lives of students. The nomination process is open to anyone who has seen firsthand the work an instructor or trainer has done to better the industry.

It’s time to give credit back to the teachers who deserve it. The clock is ticking. Don’t be late.
