Small and medium commercial buildings have not seen the same penetration of energy efficiency retrofits as larger facilities due to lower expenditures on energy management, lack of customer education, perceived high risk of retrofit financing, and split incentives between building owner and tenant, notes Navigant Research.

Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. has announced the development of high-accuracy predictive technology for such metrics as temperature and humidity to enable energy-saving operation of air conditioning equipment in data centers.

As the number of data centers continues to increase in the United States, the good news is that they are becoming much more energy efficient, according to a new report from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab).

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) announced a partnership with BuildingIQ and Energy Solutions to implement a scaled deployment of BuildingIQ’s Predictive Energy Optimization™ (PEO) platform.

Currently, there are more than 1,755 LEED-certified industrial facilities worldwide, totaling more than 496 million square feet encompassing 2,710 registered projects totaling nearly 737 million square feet. The report also showcases many of the most impressive LEED-certified industrial facilities in the world.

Geothermal heat energy is part of Assembly Bill 10342 — the New York State Climate & Community Protection Act, which would cut greenhouse gases by 100 percent by 2050 with an interim goal of 50 percent by 2030. The legislation promotes renewable energy, including GHPs.

Yurek told subcommittee members that while the Clinton administration issued six major efficiency rules over eight years, the current administration issued eight such rules in 2014 alone.
