Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc. (ARG), franchisor of the quick-service sandwich chain with nearly 3,400 restaurants worldwide, announced energy reduction savings as part of its company-wide sustainability efforts. ARG achieved a 7.6 percent reduction in energy use intensity as a result of a variety of energy initiatives implemented.

New research from Parks Associates shows young consumers, those with children, and those in a home for three to four years are leading the adoption of Internet-connected smart home energy management devices.

Smartcool Systems Inc. announced that it has received approval for beta testing of its energy efficiency technology with a Florida-based food distribution firm. This test is the next phase in introducing its technology to the refrigerated transport sector.

Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin recently signed S 202, a bill that enables Vermont to encourage the installation of high-efficiency geothermal heat pumps.

Teams representing more than 3,000 buildings across the country spent the past year competing to obtain the greatest reduction in energy use. 

Canada has 1,633 LEED-certified projects, which total more than 22 million gross square meters of real estate.

The project aimed to improve the infrastructure of five 10-story buildings at Westbrook Corporate Center in order to save energy and improve occupant comfort and satisfaction.

With the release of its “Standardization Roadmap: Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment,” the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) said industry, government, standards developing organizations (SDOs), and other stakeholders now have a national framework for action on future energy efficiency standardization.
