ACCA announced Daniel Simmons, assistant secretary of energy efficiency and renewable energy, will offer a keynote address at the ACCA Annual Conference on March 5 in San Antonio. Assistant Secretary Simmons will then tour the trade show to meet with contractors and manufacturers to discuss federal energy efficiency programs.

The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) announced that Adrian Steel of Adrian, Michigan, has joined ACCA as a corporate partner. ACCA’s corporate membership program enables HVACR industry suppliers and manufacturers to demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to ACCA members and the contracting industry through year-round support of the association's activities. The corporate membership program also provides manufactures and suppliers with increased access to ACCA’s nationwide network of contractors through tailored communications and marketing campaigns throughout the year.

GPS Education Partners and Gustave A. Larson Company announced a strategic partnership to build industry talent pools using a youth apprenticeship model designed by GPSEd. The program will match student workers with HVACR jobs and expose them to career pathways in the industry, all while earning their high school diploma.

ACCA announced that Vince and Laura DiFilippo of DiFilippo’s Service Company in Paoli, Pennsylvania, have been awarded the Federated Insurance ACCA Super S.T.A.R. Award. ACCA Corporate Partner Federated Insurance presents the ACCA Super S.T.A.R. Award annually to an ACCA member who prioritizes the four components of the award: safety, teamwork, accountability, and responsibility. To be eligible for the award, a contracting company must be both an ACCA member in good standing and a current Federated Insurance client.

Bosch Thermotechnology Corp. sponsored the New Hampshire FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Tech Challenge (FTC) State Championship on Feb. 2 at Southern New Hampshire University, demonstrating the company’s commitment to fostering STEM education initiatives that inspire future generations to innovate.

Christopher Drew was recently promoted to president and chief operations officer for Burnham Holdings Inc. He assumes the role from Douglas Brossman who, after seven years as president and CEO, will retain his role as chief executive officer. Drew will begin his new role on April 29 at Burnham Holdings’ annual meeting.

Balanced Air partnered with other local contractors and Building Homes for Heroes during a welcome home ceremony in Parrish, Florida, for USA Sergeant First Class Andrew Gonzalez. Throughout his service, Gonzalez suffered many injuries that have impacted his mobility. His injuries require specific modifications to his home in order to live safely and focus on his recovery.

Savant, a leader in smart home technology, has announced compatibility between their control platform and Resideo’s Honeywell Home T Series Smart Thermostats. This cloud-to-cloud integration includes voice control via Savant’s touchscreen Pro Remote and Pro 8 app. 

In January, more than 35 members of The Unified Group — a national association of leading independent HVAC commercial contractors in the industry — met in Scottsdale, Arizona, to share best practices, learn about new technology, and discuss company culture and employee development during the organization’s annual Service Management Forum.
