J & H Controls received the 2018 Growth Award from Cylon Auto-Matrix at the ASHRAE Show in Atlanta, which took place January 2018. Mark Hawley, president of J & H Controls, accepted the award from Kelle Donohue, Cylon Auto-Matrix director of Sales-Americas.
Michael “Mike” Lee Moore passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, in Dallas. The oldest of five children, Moore was born on Nov. 28, 1954, and grew up in Salina, Kansas. He attended Oakdale Elementary School and graduated from Salina Central High School in 1973. In 1976, Moore completed his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Kansas. He went on to earn his Master of Business Administration from Norwood University in Cedar Hill, Texas, in 2012.

Power management company Eaton announced today that Kerry Tingley has been named vice president and general manager of its Industrial Controls Division, effective March 1. She will be responsible for leading Eaton’s strategic growth and new product development initiatives for industrial control solutions used by machine builders, and commercial and industrial customers.

In their article entitled “Do OA Economizers Make ‘Cents’ in Hospitals?” Koenigshofer and Roberts detail the costs and savings of utilizing outside air economizers in hospital ventilation systems. They concluded that these systems do not make “cents” in hospitals. The findings have major implications for building codes throughout the U.S.

An HVAC solution was the headliner for an event on Feb. 19 at a 121-year-old building in the nation’s capital named after one of America’s greatest composer-musicians. The event at Duke Ellington School of the Arts demonstrated how stepping beyond traditional non-inverter HVAC systems can preserve a building’s historical architecture, enhance energy efficiencies, minimize noise, and earn design-award accolades.
Thomas M. Tebbe also to serve as executive board member

ESCO Group announced the appointment of Thomas M. Tebbe as executive director of the HVACR Education Resource Network (HERN), and as an executive board member of ESCO Group. Tebbe joined the ESCO Group team in 2003 after spending 30 years in public education with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, as an instructor, school director, and regional director of five technical colleges. Over the years, Tebbe has worked in various roles within the ESCO Group, most recently as the national programs director for HVAC Excellence.
