The Seattle chapter of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) sponsored a seminar that focused on educating HVAC contractors on the latest tools and trends available to assist in dealing with indoor air quality (IAQ) threats and safeguards.

An army of volunteers recently went to work on the “blitz building” of two homes in just five days. It was the culmination of efforts by five local partners to provide attractive, affordable homes in Pittsburgh’s Hill District, and, in turn, enhance the community. The partners dubbed the project “Hammers, Hearts, and Hope on the Hill.”

So, planners decided not to try to keep the existing metal ductwork in the former Service Merchandise store in the Knoxville Shopping Center. As part of the $1.5 million retrofit Gurney chose fabric air dispersion systems to distribute even, draft-free airflow onto members.
