In July of 2014, California’s 2013 Title 24 mandates went into effect requiring certifications for all technicians who want to perform mechanical acceptance testing of buildings’ HVAC systems. This AHR Expo session will detail the mandates as well as the required acceptance tests.

Policy Affects Contractors and Businesses Collecting Waste Thermostats

The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has placed additional requirements on C-20 HVAC and C-21 demolition contractors and businesses collecting waste mercury thermostats through manufacturer-sponsored programs, the Thermostat Recycling Corp. (TRC) reports.
The Solar Center reported that California residents have now installed more than 1 gigawatt — over 1,066 megawatts — of solar power using rebates from the $2.4 billion California Solar Initiative, launched in 2007 as a way to jump-start the industry.
