Ultra-Efficient Cell Pushes the Limits of Solar Conversion

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has announced the demonstration of a 45.7 percent conversion efficiency for a four-junction solar cell at 234 suns concentration. NREL said this is one of the highest photovoltaic research cell efficiencies achieved across all types of solar cells.

Three School Districts Receive Loans Through the Energy Conservation Assistance Act

The California Energy Commission approved $13.5 million for energy efficiency measures to 14 schools in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Joaquin County, and Orange County. The Energy Commission also approved grants to four entities to develop and research alternative and renewable fuel projects.
