Salt Lake City Buys Wind Power
October 5, 2002
Salt Lake City, UT, has signed an agreement to purchase 35,000 kWh of wind power per month, making it the largest buyer of wind power in the state.
The purchase of “Blue Sky” energy from Utah Power supports both the Salt Lake City Green program and the city’s Local Climate Action Plan. Its action plan aims for the city to meet the Kyoto Protocol goal of a 7% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2012.
