PHCC of Sacramento Valley Helps Repair Homes for Needy
"There were 18 houses slated for repairs, and PHCC's plumbers worked on 13 of them," said PHCC of Sacramento Valley Executive Director Tracey B. Smith. "We were very pleased that we were able to help that many families have a more comfortable home environment."
Approximately 65 PHCC members and other volunteers completed repairs, such as correcting a gas leak, installing a new water heater, repairing or replacing toilets, replacing faucets, and installing a new garbage disposer.
Companies participating were: J.R. Pierce; PHCC-GSA Plumbing Apprenticeship Program; McDonald Plumbing & Heating; Risse Mechanical; Cal Delta Plumbing; Bianchi Plumbing; Armstrong Plumbing; and Monarch Plumbing.
There also were several individual volunteers: Harry Moos (affiliate member with Noveon Inc./FloGuard Gold); Trish Black (PHCC Apprenticeship School); Peggy Hall (PHCC-Medical Insurance Trust); and Tracey Smith (PHCC of the Sacramento Valley).
The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association (PHCC) has a partnership with Rebuilding Together to help repair the homes of low-income homeowners around the country. Rebuilding Together is a national, nonprofit, volunteer organization whose mission is to preserve and revitalize homes and communities, assuring that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly and disabled and families with children, live in warmth, safety, and independence.
