The contoured combustion chamber of the Intrepid cast iron oil boilers is computer designed to support stable combustion, and the heat exchanger has one of the lowest draft losses in the industry, claims the manufacturer. Burners are configured for each specific model. These characteristics combine to ensure a robust flame that is virtually unaffected by reduced draft, as well as low oil and air temperatures, says the company. Nine sizes of the boiler, ranging from 0.75 to 3.35 gpm, include 86 percent AFUE Energy Star models. The series includes TRDV direct-vent hot water models, which can be used in applications without a chimney. These models are available with or without a tankless heater and feature an AFUE rating of up to 87.2 percent.
