PARSIPPANY, N.J. - The Hydraulic Institute (HI) seeks qualified individuals to participate in the review process of a newly completed standard for the definition, selection, application, operation, and maintenance of centrifugal slurry pumps. The new standard includes slurry pump types, types of slurries, slurry limitations, slurry solids effects on pumps, pumping of froth, pump wear, and application. It also provides requirements for wet-end and bearing housing shaft seals and establishes allowable nozzle loads.

Individuals and organizations affected by this standard are asked to contact HI regarding the review process. HI is looking for participants such as pump users and specifiers, producers, standards developers, government agencies, and general interest groups. HI is assembling a list of all interested parties, to submit to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in order to meet its open canvass requirements.

To participate in the canvass, contact Karen Anderson at 973-267-9700, ext. 23 or kanderson@pumps.org.
