June 24, 2004
BACnet is available as a downloadable option in the ACH550 DriveIT low-voltage AC variable-frequency drive (VFD) series. The company claims that this is the first VFD to offer BACnet without hardware additions. An expanded I/O and/or fieldbus adapters are available as options and mount quickly into an option slot inside the ACH550 drives, providing connectivity to a wide variety of major automation systems, states the company. Modbus, Johnson Controls' Metasys®, and Siemens' FLN serial communication are built in the VFD. With the VFD for HVAC, the standard connection is MS/TP, RS485-based. The company says that the VFD features a control panel modeled after a cell phone design.
