The Accu-Temp Type M tank temperature measurement sensor is designed to provide temperature measurement of chilled water in tanks or other large storage vessels. The sensor can be used in tanks as high as 90 feet (27 meters). According to the manufacturer, this sensor measures the temperature accurately so that the location of the thermocline can be determined. A multiple spot averaging resistance temperature detector version consists of a number of 100-ohm spot-sensing elements, installed at approximately 3-foot (0.9-meter) intervals, with the lowest sensing element approximately 1 foot (0.3 meters) from the tank bottom. The temperature-measuring circuit can average the submerged elements, or it can be used to read individual points of temperature measurement to provide a tank temperature profile.
