Home » CorrView International LLC: Piping Corrosion Monitor
The CorrView, a tool for monitoring corrosion activity in piping systems, is a self-contained 3/4-, 1-, or 1-1/2-inch hex head pipe plug. Threaded directly into any water piping system, it produces a color change from white to fluorescent orange after a predefined amount of wall loss has occurred. Since it is typically manufactured from the same metal alloy as the actual pipe and exists under identical operating conditions, it corrodes similarly to the pipe. Once in place, the liquid contacting side of CorrView begins recording the corrosion activity of the system by wearing itself away, says the company. Once the predefined amount of metal is corroded away, water enters the unit's sealed chamber to trigger a bright and permanent visual indication at its front sight glass. An ideal application for this is for cooling towers, states the manufacturer.
