WASHINGTON - The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) sponsored the Careers in Construction Expo, a free educational event held at the National Building Museum.

The event was designed to highlight the numerous professional and educational opportunities in the construction industry. More than 2,000 secondary students from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the District of Columbia participated in the interactive program.

More than 30 hands-on craft exhibits were part of the expo, including concrete finishing, electrical work, fiber optics, carpentry, plumbing, and estimating. Representatives from area community colleges and universities, the departments of Education, Labor, and Transportation, and the Virginia Department of Transportation met with the students to discuss the opportunities in the construction industry.
