The PowerVent™ 2 induced-draft gas water heater comes in 40- and 50-gallon sizes, with inputs of 40,000 Btuh. Both models have R-20 foam insulation, which is 2-1/2 inches thick. The unit can be vented horizontally or vertically and can be vented using PVC, ABS, or CPVC pipe, the company says. The water heater has electronic ignition and an electronic control that unites the thermostat and gas valve into a unit mounted on the front of the water heater. According to the company, the unit’s self-diagnostic control monitors key operating conditions, including whether the water heater’s pressure switch is open or closed and whether there has been an energy cutoff failure. The PowerVent 2 carries a six-year limited tank and parts warranty.
