The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute opened this year's Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Expo-Mexico with a speech from David R. Pannier, chairman of the institute's board of directors. Pannier saluted HVACR manufacturers for improving the quality of life for people in Mexico and the United States. During the opening ceremonies, Pannier said the "vast array of equipment on display here is proof that Mexico and the U.S. are working as partners in meeting the huge demand for innovative products that improve the quality of life." He explained that ARI's theme for the year is "Striving for Excellence." "From the high quality of the equipment in the booths, it is clear that we are meeting the demand for excellence in the marketplace," Pannier said. The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) co-sponsored the exposition.
