ARLINGTON, Va. - A new, 10-minute video titled "Improving Life" is being used around the country and abroad to describe how advances in air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration help people live healthier, happier, and longer lives, according to the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI).

Available in DVD or VHS format, the video describes how engineers, scientists, university researchers, and enterprising companies developed systems that save energy, reduce the growth of global warming gases, and make life better for people around the world.

The video, which is being used to recruit workers and encourage students to pursue careers in the industry, explains how energy-efficient equipment using safe refrigerants has made possible various products and services that range from fresh food shipped from distant countries to refrigerated medicines and vaccines, 24-hour surgical suites, computer chips, productivity-enhancing buildings, and protection against killer heat waves.

The video was sent to nearly 1,400 schools in the United States that offer HVACR training.
