FALLS CHURCH, Va. — The Education Foundation of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors — National Association (PHCC) held the first of its new “Essentials of PHC Project Management” courses in January.

Twenty-six contractors from industry firms attended the project management course, which was conducted by the Foundation at the National Conference Center outside Washington, D.C. The course’s three instructors supplied participants with information on such topics as managing labor risk, using the contract as a management tool, conducting turnover meetings, managing cash flow, and proper project closeout procedures.

The PHCC Educational Foundation offered the project management course at Purdue University for six years. After revisions were made, the new format was unveiled in January. Each course section lasts four days and includes 40 hours of instruction.

Classes will be offered at several regional sites across the country. Remaining courses for the year include “Essentials of PHC Project Management” in San Jose, Calif., May 21-24, and “Advanced PHC Project Management” in Indianapolis Aug. 20-23.
