The DustVOC™ analyzes the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) present in settled building dust. Dust samples are collected and examined using gas chromatographic/mass spectrometry to identify the offending VOCs, says the company. According to the manufacturer, this analysis tool can be used to search for causes of outbreaks of “unexplained” sick building syndrome, irritant responses, dermal rashes, respiratory diseases, and unusual clusters of more significant disease states, as well as to evaluate cleaning effectiveness following building construction, routine building maintenance, or building remediation following catastrophic events.
