The EmberNet product suite, a family of hardware and software products and development tools, are designed for embedded wireless networking. Optimized for sensing and control applications requiring moderate band-width, these products have proven successful in harsh environments including water treatment plants, manufacturing lines, and power stations, the company says. According to the company, the EmberNet product suite consists of the node, the core element of EmberNet, which consists of a microcontroller and chipset running the protocol stack; the gateway, a Linux-based hardware device that includes the protocol stack, which enables communication between an EmberNet and TCP/IP networks, and runs a monitoring software that provides a view of the network; serial node, which comes preloaded with the Modbus RTU protocol; and a developer kit, which enables the design of application-specific programs to run over the EmberNet.
