Under the agreement, Emerson’s Retail Services organization will provide Internet-based energy- and equipment-monitoring technology at 585 Tesco-owned stores in the U.K.
In addition, 275 of these stores will undergo Emerson’s E-Commissioning program, an energy audit and continuous monitoring process for a supermarket’s HVACR, lighting, and building control systems, to restore peak operating and energy efficiency.
REMOTE MONITORINGCreated two years ago, the Retail Services organization provides energy- and site-monitoring services for the U.S. supermarket industry and other retail chains. According to Emerson, more than 2,000 store locations currently use the company’s remote energy monitoring and services. Tesco becomes Retail Services’ first major supermarket customer based outside of the United States.
“We are very proud to have been selected by Tesco to help it achieve its business objective of reducing its operating costs through improved energy-consumption practices,” said Paul Wickberg, president of Emerson Retail Services. “Tesco is one of the leading supermarket chains in the world. Its decision to use Emerson is testimony to the technology reputation and energy savings results that we are able to provide supermarkets and other chain retailers anywhere in the world.
“The combined contribution of our facility engineering group at Clive Samuels & Associates, the electronic controls technologies of our Computer Process Controls division, and Retail Services, makes this type of solution possible for our customers,” Wickberg said.
EMPHASIZING EFFICIENCYJohn Ashford, head of engineering for Tesco, commented, “Our agreement with Emerson is part of our overall program for reducing energy use in our facilities while improving the products delivered to our customers.”
“This is an excellent example of how our customers are able to take advantage of the breadth of products and services available from Emerson Climate Technologies divisions, and how we internally are working together to deliver quality solutions to our customers,” said Tom Bettcher, Emerson executive vice president and business leader of Emerson Climate Technologies.
Emerson Climate Technologies unites 14 different businesses. The company is based in St. Louis, MO.
