ATLANTA, GA — Detailed information on sections of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ (ASHRAE’s) energy conservation standard will be presented in a satellite broadcast on Oct. 30, 2001 at noon Eastern time.

ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-1999, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, provides minimum requirements for the energy-efficient design of buildings.

The broadcast, is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Building Standards and Guidelines Program.

Three 75-min broadcasts, airing consecutively, will cover requirements of the standard for building envelope, mechanical, and lighting energy systems, along with a brief discussion of the scope and administrative sections. Building envelope will be addressed from noon-1:15 p.m., mechanical from 1:30-2:45 p.m., and lighting from 3-4:15 p.m.
