This head pressure controller for air conditioning units and heat pumps is designed to cut energy costs by adjusting the fan speed of the condenser. On startup, the fan is given an initial hard start at full speed for 10 seconds and then slows to the speed to give the required condensing temperature, the company states. As ambient temperatures fall further, the fan gradually slows to about one-third of full speed to maintain bearing lubrication, and it can be reset to any desired level, the manufacturer states. The controllers for both heat pump and air conditioners are designed to combine the gradual fan variation of the standard range with fan cycling when air temperatures fall to even lower levels.
