TEMPE, AZ — For the second year in a row, University Mechanical has been recognized by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) for having the best safety and health record in the country among companies within the 400,001 to 500,000 man-hours category, according to the 2001 SMACNA Safety Statistics Evaluation and Awards Program.

Each year, SMACNA conducts its awards program, which evaluates safety data, looks for trends, and recognizes SMACNA members with the lowest accident/illness rates in the prior calendar year. Awards are presented to participating contractors with the lowest accident/illness rate within specific man-hour categories.

“SMACNA contractors place a high priority on the safety of their employees,” said Carol Goguen, executive director of SMACNA-Arizona. “We are proud to have an Arizona contractor recognized nationally for its emphasis and success in ensuring that its job sites are safe for all their workers.”
