Comfort-Plus off-peak heating equipment is used with a heat pump in order to combine the efficiency of a heat pump with off-peak electric rates, says the manufacturer. This series uses electric thermal storage (ETS) technology to convert off-peak electricity to heat in specially designed ceramic bricks. A sensor monitors outdoor temperatures to regulate the amount of heat the system stores in its brick core. The stored heat energy is blended with the heat pump’s heating capacity, as needed.
