The company says its AgION™ antimicrobial steel coating has been registered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use in commercial, industrial, and residential heating and cooling systems. The inorganic steel coating supplies long-lasting, durable, and safe protection against the growth of microorganisms within a wide range of applications, the manufacturer says. The coating contains silver, which has been proven to be safe and successful in controlling the growth of microorganisms like bacteria, mold, and mildew, says the company. An additional cosmetic benefit of the steel coating is its ability to hide fingerprints, the company says.
