A. O. Smith Corporation (Milwaukee, WI) announces the sale of its Smith Fiberglass Products Company to Fiber Glass Systems, L.P., and Tuboscope (Holdings U.S.) Inc., subsidiaries of Varco International Inc. (Houston,TX). The terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Johns Manville (Denver, Co) and Skloplast (Trnava, Slovakia), a fiberglass manufacturing company, have come to an agreement, under which Manville will acquire the Slovakian manufacturer. The acquisition is expected to close during the first quarter of 2001, but will first be subjected to European regulatory approval. Manville also announces that by mutual agreement its previously announced merger with an investor group led by affiliates of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Inc. and Bear Stearns Merchant Banking, has been terminated.

McDonnell & Miller (Chicago, IL) was recently commended by the Governor of Illinois, George Ryan, for its effort in reducing hazardous waste and toxic air emissions. It is one of only 17 companies throughout the state receiving the 14th annual Governor’s Pollution Prevention Award this year.

The Donaldson Company (Minneapolis, MN) and Filtration Group, Inc. (Joliet, IL) announce an agreement between the two companies where Filtration Group will acquire the equipment and related assets from Donaldson to produce filters for bio safety cabinets and clean air systems. Currently, the filters are produced at Donaldson’s facility in Dixon, IL.

WaterFurnace International, Inc. (Fort Wayne, IN) has a new distributor of geothermal and water source heating and cooling equipment for the Ontario, Canada market. Eden Energy Equipment Limited (Guelph, Ontario) was chosen because its location offers better availability and delivery of units and parts.

Tecogen (Waltham, MA) has been sold by its parent, Thermo Power Corporation (Waltham, MA) to four investors: Dr. George Hatsopoulos, John Hatsopoulos, Craig Drill Capital (New York, NY), and Fox River Financial Resources (Batavia, IL).

Copeland Corporation (Sidney, OH) announces Copeland Certified Parts™, a new identity for the company’s complete line of replacement parts.

AAF international (Louisville, KY), manufacturer of AmericanAirFilter® products has received Ford Motor Company’s Industrial Materials Purchasing Q1 Certification. The Q1 certification will apply to each AAF manufacturing facility worldwide.

Heatcraft-Tifton (Tifton, GA), part of the worldwide climate control systems leader Lennox International Inc., has been recognized as one of the safest plants within the worldwide Lennox organization. On Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, employees achieved a milestone, having worked one million hours without a lost-time injury. Heatcraft-Tifton manufactures commercial refrigeration, condensing units and air-cool condensers.
