• Emerson (St. Louis, MO) says it expects to report total sales growth of approximately 5% for the second quarter of fiscal year 2001 ending March 31. Sales for the quarter were $3.9 billion. Underlying sales, excluding acquisitions, divestitures, and currency exchange, are expected to increase 5% to 6%.
  • The Manitowoc Company, Inc. (Manitowoc, WI) released its preliminary financial results for the first quarter ending March 31, 2001. Anticipated net sales for the quarter will be in the range of $215 million to $225 million, as compared to $202 million reported in the first quarter of 2000. Diluted earnings per share for the quarter are expected to be in the range of $0.38 to $0.43, as compared to earnings per share of $0.57 in the same quarter of 2000.
  • Applied Energy Recovery Systems (Norcross, GA) has acquired all assets and product lines associated with the E•Tech Applied Products Division of Airxcel, Inc. (Wichita, KS). The new company will be called Applied Energy Recovery Systems (AERS), and will utilize E-Tech professional engineering and manufacturing staff and products.
  • Kam Leong has been named corporate vice president of strategic planning for York International Corp. (York, PA). He will assume this role in addition to his current position as president of York Asia/Pacific.
  • Bill Brown has been appointed president of Carrier Corporation’s (Farmington, CT) Asia Pacific Operations. He is replacing Geraud Darnis, who was recently appointed president of United Technologies’ Power Solutions.
