GenX is a computerized power-switching system for supermarket refrigeration applications. The product uses a software program to continuously decide when and to what degree energy normally sourced from the grid should be generated on-site by a backup generator. The program analyzes gas and electric rates, the local utility structure, generator maintenance costs, and engine genset efficiency. It then decides when to shift the selected load on or off the grid, choosing the lowest-cost alternative, the company says.
