Boiler Firm Closes Doors in Midst of Major Recall

Reports of CO poisoning, including 2 deaths, led to voluntary recall

November 6, 2025

In the midst of a recall of approximately 67,500 residential gas boilers, New Jersey-based Triangle Tube abruptly ceased operations on Monday, Nov. 3.

A message on the company's website and a recorded telephone greeting announced the shutdown. A sister company, Ideal Heating North America, also announced its closure. No one from either company could be reached on Wednesday.

The company's website said the boiler recall will not be affected. But orders for equipment and accessories that were outstanding as of November 3 will not be processed, the company said. Spare parts will be available through the company's distributors while supplies last, the company said, but products will have no warranties as of the shutdown date.

The voluntary recall, announced in February by Triangle Tube, Health Canada, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), applies to Prestige Solo, Prestige Excellence, and Aerco Esteem condensing gas boilers. Triangle Tube had received reports of two deaths due to CO poisoning associated with the boilers, and 25 reports of CO leaks, the CPSC said.

A CPSC press release said delayed ignitions or component damage on the boilers could cause the release of carbon monoxide. The recalled boilers were made in Belgium between 2011 and 2019 and imported by Triangle Tube, the press release said. About 60,000 of the boilers in question were sold in the U.S., and about 7,500 in Canada.

The recalled boilers have serial number prefixes of AE, PT, PA, PTE, and PEA, according to information on the Triangle Tube website.

Contractors who have customers with recalled boilers are asked to visit an online portal the company has set up. Contractors will be able to register customers for the recall through the portal, and customers who have already registered and named a preferred repair contractor will be listed for those contractors. Alternatively, contractors can call 877-574-5036 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday.

Triangle Tube is offering instructions on how to complete the repair, and technicians must be approved by the company before undertaking repairs.

Consumers and homeowners who may have a recalled boiler can visit this site for information about identifying the boiler and registering for an inspection and a repair. They may also call customer service, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, at 877-574-5036. The email is productrecall@triangletube.com.

Details about the recall, for both consumers and contractors, are available through this site.
