Possibilities of a National Decarbonization Policy

What would a world with a national decarbonization policy look like, anyway? With much of the recent conversation regarding the impact one could have on the HVAC industry, and whether or not it’d be beneficial for HVAC contractors, many have been evaluating its positives, and its negatives. Some feel it’s just what the industry needs, and others can’t help but feel like it’s all sort of some political agenda. Either way, decarbonization efforts continue to rapidly impact HVAC. In April, the U.S. Department of Energy released the blueprint “Decarbonizing the U.S. Economy By 2050: A National Blueprint for the Building Sector.” The goal of this blueprint: to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from U.S. buildings by 65% come 2035, and a 90% reduction when compared to usage in 2005. Yet, the possibility of something like a national policy actually happening on a federal level seems unlikely to industry experts.
