Decarbonization is one of the hottest topics in HVACR right now, and one industry association is updating its professional development to reflect the skills it requires — ASHRAE recently approved job task analyses for the Building Energy Modeling Professional and High Performance Building Design Professional certification exams to support building decarbonization efforts. Emerson has agreed to purchase National Instruments (NI) for about $8.2 billion. The deal was announced April 12 and is expected to close in the first half of Emerson’s 2024 fiscal year, which begins in October. At a roundtable on heat pumps held April 4 at the White House, LG Electronics announced plans for a new factory that will make indoor components for heat pump systems in the U.S. for the first time. Continuing with the topic of heat pumps, at the recent ACCA Conference & Expo, Wes Davis, ACCA’s director of technical services, gave a presentation on five items HVAC contractors need to keep in mind when quoting and installing a residential heat pump.
