Atlanta Technical College Establishes HVAC Scholarship in Esteemed Instructor’s Name

This scholarship was created to celebrate the inspirational legacy of Claude LaHaie, a beloved instructor at Atlanta Technical College, and to create a debt-free pathway for students to obtain a career in the HVAC industry.

ATLANTA — Steve and Charlotte Howard established their second major scholarship fund at Atlanta Technical College in 2022 with the creation of the Claude LaHaie HVAC Scholarship. This scholarship is created to celebrate the inspirational legacy of Claude LaHaie, a beloved instructor at Atlanta Technical College, and to create a debt-free pathway for students to obtain a career in the HVAC industry.
“We wanted all high school students to realize what a wonderful career they can have as a heating and air conditioning technician,” said Steve Howard, a graduate of Atlanta Technical College and former student of Claude LaHaie. “Mr. LaHaie was a dedicated teacher and who went to great lengths to support his students, including me.”
This scholarship provides a completely free education for recipients and includes tuition, books and tools, hopes to encourage high school seniors to consider a career in the HVAC industry.
The first recipient, Titus Johnson, began classes in August of 2022 and expects to graduate in May 2024. For more information, visit www.atlantatech.edu.
