AUDUBON, Pa. — Emily Ramirez, service coordinator supervisor for Horizon Services, accepted the Department of Defense’s Patriot Award, in recognition for her support of an employee serving in the National Guard. Ramirez was nominated by team member Ny-Drice Dunn, a member of Horizon’s dispatch team and active member of the National Guard.

In a small morning ceremony at Horizon’s Audubon office, two members of the National Guard presented Ramirez with a framed certificate acknowledging her contribution. Members of the Horizon Pennsylvania team also attended and helped celebrate this unique achievement.

“I’m proud to support my team at all times, but especially when they are serving our country,” said Ramirez. “This nomination is an incredible honor and I am so thankful.”

As detailed by the Department of Defense, The Patriot Award is presented to individual supervisors. The award recognizes the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.

Dunn submitted Ramirez’s nomination while on active duty. While Dunn was unable to attend the award ceremony, the nomination was appreciated by the whole team.

“It’s always a pleasure to recognize our team members in active service, as well as those who support them,” said Evan Bauer, Pennsylvania operations manager for Horizon Services. “We appreciate the commitment our enlisted team members make to protect our country. Ny-Drice and others like him deserve our utmost respect.”
