ATLANTA — The Taco Family of Companies held a press conference on Monday, Jan. 14, at the 2019 AHR Expo to introduce Taco’s new president and to announce the recipient of the Dan Holohan Lifetime Contribution and Comfort award.

“It’s been an interesting year for Taco,” said John Hazen White Jr., owner and CEO, Taco Comfort Solutions, “a year to reconfigure.”

And part of that reconfiguration took place when the company named Cheryl Merchant as the new president.

“Coming to Taco, the biggest reason for me was the team,” said Merchant. “This is an amazing team with many years of expertise. Innovation and moving forward [in the industry] are key to us.”

This is evident, as the company is, once again, an innovation award winner. This year, Taco won for its new product, Taco Tags featuring eLink, which provide customers with important product information through their mobile devices via near-field communication (NFC) technology.

Just one tap on the Taco Tag connects customers to eLink, Taco’s cloud-based service, which provides product-specific information, including product specifications, model numbers, replacement parts, instruction sheets, and more.

The small, flat, rectangular tags are attached to all Taco commercial pumps, heat exchangers, commercial air and dirt separators, and expansion/storage tanks. Taco Tags provide a wealth of product support in a compact digital format and are intended to help anyone who comes in direct contact with these products, including installing contractors, service technicians, and building owners and managers.

In addition to discussing all the company excitement — recent acquisitions, new products, and new executives — Taco presentenced this year’s Dan Holohan Comfort award to Dan Foley, owner and president of Foley Mechanical in Lorton, Virginia.

“We give this award every year to an individual or company who’s made significant contributions to comfort technology advancement and training,” said Ken Watson, vice president corporate marketing.

“It is a thrill and an honor to accept this award,” said Foley. “Thank you so much.”
