Southwire, a producer of wire and cable, enhanced its EZ-In Mini-Split cable offering with connectors and tools created to make installations faster and easier. Using appropriate tools for mini-split installations also reduces the chance of damage to internal wires that could lead to improper functioning and wiring safety concerns. The connectors are liquid-tight and steel- and zinc-plated. Tools include a rotary cutter that easily handles all common armored (MC and BX) cables, a compact jacket cutter/conduit scorer with a reamer blade, and heavy-duty, stainless steel wire strippers. Southwire’s EZ-In Mini-Split cable offers ease of installation and savings by eliminating the conduit and cable trays found in typical HVAC installations. The company recently introduced a shielded configuration for the mini-split cable, which protects adjacent cables from electrical noise and interference. EZ-In Mini-Split cable is constructed of bare copper THHN/THWN conductors with PVC insulation and a nylon jacket cabled together with an aluminum interlocking armor applied over the assembly. It is moisture-resistant, sunlight-resistant and flame-retardant, thanks to an over-armor PVC jacket.
