CAMBRIDGE, Ontario — The Glen Dimplex Group, a manufacturer of electrical heating headquartered in Ireland, has named Hutch Johnson interim CEO of Dimplex North America. Based in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, Dimplex North America is a subsidiary of Glen Dimplex and is a manufacturer of electric fireplaces, media consoles, wall-mounts, electric heat, baseboards, and stoves.

Glen Dimplex also has appointed Johnson to serve as CEO of Vancouver, Washington-based Cadet Manufacturing as part of its acquisition of that U.S. heating products company.

Johnson, who has served as president of Cadet since 1998, brings more than 40 years of experience to his CEO role with Glen Dimplex, including 18 years in the electric heat industry and 25 years in the electrical distribution channel. Johnson will report directly to Fergal Naughton, CEO of Glen Dimplex.

“Hutch is the perfect CEO for developing our ambitious North American strategy,” said Naughton. “His tenure in the industry, combined with his deep relationships and industry knowledge, will effectively drive our growth objectives for both Dimplex North America and Cadet.”

Johnson will split his time between Dimplex North America and Cadet — overseeing management teams at both companies.

“I look forward to working with the tremendous resources and international perspective that Glen Dimplex provides to its North American businesses,” commented Johnson. “This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a visionary global leader.”

Denis Normand, previous president and CEO of Dimplex North America, left his post to return to his roots in the toy industry.
