TORONTO — Enercare Inc. has announced the launch of the Enercare Fresh Start Program, a new corporate social responsibility program designed to help families transitioning between temporary shelters and a home of their own.

Enercare, headquartered in Toronto, is one of North America’s largest home and commercial services and energy solutions companies with its Enercare and Service Experts brands providing water heaters, water treatment, furnaces, air conditioners and other HVAC rental products, plumbing services, protection plans, and related services. With operations in Canada and the U.S., Enercare serves approximately 1.6 million customers annually.

One of Enercare’s key objectives with the Fresh Start Program is to give back to the communities where it operates by partnering with local organizations to help disadvantaged families living in a shelter due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances. The Enercare Fresh Start Program helps families get back on their feet by providing simple necessities, small luxuries, and professional home tips essential to starting a new beginning in a new home. Families receive a personalized Enercare Fresh Start Comfort Package that includes everything from linens and toiletries, to toys and kitchen utensils, to ensure a comfortable Fresh Start.

“We are extremely proud to launch the Fresh Start Program to provide families in need with the fresh start they deserve,” said John Macdonald, president and CEO of Enercare. “We developed the program with input from our employees to ensure that we were providing meaningful support to the communities where we live and operate while also aligning the program with our brand values of being exceptional, caring, and genuine.”

The inaugural charity partner for the Fresh Start Program is Yellow Brick House. Servicing families in the York Region, Yellow Brick House is a leader in the provision of emergency shelter, counseling, transitional housing, and supportive services to women and children who have experienced violence and abuse.

“We are very appreciative to partner with a company that is looking to assist our organization by providing real tangible items that are individualized and specific to each family’s needs as they transition out of a shelter and into a new home,” said Pamela Massaro, manager and resource development of Yellow Brick House. “Enercare’s support will certainly help make the transition for these families much easier and significantly more comfortable.”

Working with Yellow Brick House, Enercare has identified the initial families to receive Enercare Fresh Start Comfort Packages. In addition, Enercare has provided Yellow Brick House with subsidized commercial services, including the maintenance and replacement of Yellow Brick House’s heating and cooling equipment at its facilities in the York Region.

“Every Fresh Start Package includes a wide range of specific household items intended to help each family feel confident, safe, and prepared in their new environment,” said Macdonald. “We look forward to growing the Fresh Start Program by partnering with similar organizations across Ontario to make a difference in the lives of families where we live and operate our business.”
