GERMANTOWN, Md. — Earth Networks announced that the WeatherBug Home portion of its WeatherBug® mobile app now includes an integration with the Honeywell Lyric smart thermostat — enabling Honeywell customers to see how the latest weather conditions impact their personal energy use, costs, and comfort. The WeatherBug mobile app is one of the first integrations with the Honeywell Lyric application programming interface (API) through its recently announced Connected Home open API program.

On average, weather drives approximately 50 percent of a home’s energy use, said Earth Networks. By integrating WeatherBug’s real-time, hyper-local data and patent-pending algorithms, homeowners with Honeywell’s Lyric thermostat can see in real-time how weather affects their energy use. These insights can help consumers improve their energy efficiency, comfort, and cost savings.

“When it comes to energy efficiency, knowledge is power. Honeywell has recognized WeatherBug as a leading go-to, daily-use mobile app that consumers have come to trust to deliver unique data insights to help manage their busy lives, which now includes energy use, costs, and savings options,” said Bob Marshall, chief executive officer, Earth Networks. “The newest version of our mobile app reaffirms our commitment to extending the value of these insights beyond the smart home, in turn creating a smarter consumer.”

“We are excited by the benefits our partnership with the WeatherBug Home program offers our customers. That is why we have selected WeatherBug as one of the first API integrations for Honeywell Lyric, offering our customers unmatched real-time insights into how weather is impacting their energy usage and insights for cost savings,” said Jeremy Eaton, president, Honeywell Connected Home.

The newest WeatherBug release is now available for download on Android and Apple devices.
