South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley speaks at the South Carolina All-Women’s Factory Tour and Luncheon.

South Carolina Air Distributors and Armstrong Air recently hosted the first-ever South Carolina All-Women’s Factory Tour and Luncheon. The event, which was held at the Allied Air Enterprises plant in Orangeburg, drew 100 women who work within the offices of contractors across the state — a list that includes receptionists, service managers, technicians, and co-owners/owners.

The guest speaker was South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

“We invited Governor Haley based on her support of small businesses and manufacturing in the state,” said Khristina Gonzalez, director of new business development, South Carolina Air Distributors. “With Governor Haley being someone who has reshaped our local government and made an impact on a predominantly male industry, it just made sense for her to represent women.”

Haley touted the work ethic of women and urged women to step up and ask for bigger responsibilities. “I didn’t get to this position by being shy,” she said.

Following the event, Haley posted a message on her Facebook page thanking South Carolina Air and Allied Air Enterprises, manufacturers of Armstrong Air Products, for putting together the event to celebrate women in business in South Carolina. “We enjoyed speaking with the women of the South Carolina HVAC community about business and leadership,” she said.
