ARLINGTON, Va. — GridPoint, a provider of data-driven energy management systems (EMS), announced that its submetering, monitoring, and intelligent building control technology, combined with its cloud-based analytics software platform and service offerings, has helped national retailer VF Outlet achieve an average savings of 26 percent across its installed sites since 2012, with some stores reaching 30 percent individually. These solutions have enabled VF Outlet to not only significantly reduce operating costs, but also make progress on broader sustainability goals.

GridPoint’s submetering and monitoring devices gather asset-level energy consumption and environmental data at VF Outlet’s sites and send the data to GridPoint Energy Manager, a cloud-based, centralized software platform, which analyzes the data in real-time to optimize energy usage across VF Outlet’s locations in a consolidated interface. VF Outlet is able to remotely control multi-site operations and identify critical issues that may be affecting a site’s energy usage through a variety of exception reports and alarms in GridPoint Energy Manager. At select VF Outlet locations, GridPoint also deployed its advanced control algorithms, including Load Curtailment, which turns off equipment or adjusts setpoints automatically to meet peak load targets.

In addition, GridPoint’s support team provides phone and email assistance for setpoint and schedule adjustments from the sites or corporate users based on pre-defined overrides and ranges. Leveraging the asset-level submetering data, GridPoint’s consultative service teams also proactively discovered numerous inefficiencies and operational errors from heating and cooling issues to lighting usage problems. Each of these issues were prioritized for corrective action through either preventative maintenance actions or handled remotely with adjustments using GridPoint Energy Manager, and with minimal resource impact to VF Outlet corporate personnel.

“The visibility GridPoint Energy Manager gives us into site-by-site and asset-by-asset energy consumption has been very enlightening. We’ve been able to tighten store operations and run much more efficiently than before GridPoint’s solutions were installed,” said Chris Lang, director of store planning for VF Outlet. “Not only can I review site operations remotely, but our teams can also review and triage issues on the go with GridPoint Energy Manager Mobile, which has been tremendously useful.”

GridPoint Energy Manager Mobile allows users to view and chart asset-level operational data in real time, easily email important data to on-site personnel and even navigate between sites using an integrated map feature.

“GridPoint is proud of the consistent results we’ve been able to deliver to VF Outlet over our multi-year relationship,” said Mark Danzenbaker, senior vice president of sales, marketing, and product management. “Our enterprise-wide deployment was smooth, our service teams provide insightful analysis, and our submetering, monitoring, and controls continue to average energy savings of 26 percent across our customer’s fleet of sites.”
