Trane is expanding its United Kingdom chiller portfolio with the addition of a range of multi-pipe chillers designed to simultaneously deliver hot and chilled water.

According to the company, the new CMAA (scroll) and RTMA (screw) multi-pipe chillers are suitable for many comfort air conditioning applications and industrial processes where simultaneous heating and cooling is required.

“Many building owners and managers in climates such as those in the UK face the need to provide simultaneous heating and cooling in different spaces of their facilities to meet the sustainability obligations under the UK’s challenging building regulations,” said Michael Hamill, equipment sales leader for Trane UK.

The CMAA and RTMA Trane multi-pipe chillers autonomously handle all thermal loads and offer best-in-class energy efficiency.

“The wide range of Trane multi-pipe chillers equipped with scroll or screw compressors launched today is ideal for such applications,” said Jeff Moe, vice president of product management and marketing for Trane in Europe, Middle East and Africa. “The new chillers simultaneously deliver hot and chilled water and up to full energy recovery resulting in significant energy efficiency improvements and reduced operational costs.

“We consider the multi-pipe systems an important part of an overall heating and cooling systems approach across all of Europe,” continued Moe.

The new range of Trane multi-pipe chillers is particularly suitable in countries with mild winters and perfectly fits in buildings where the heating system is designed for low temperature radiators or under floor heating operating with hot water temperatures of 35-50°C.

The company claims a HVAC system connecting Trane’s multi-pipe chiller to a Trane air handling unit and/or ducted fan coil units will deliver to the building owner a highly flexible system ensuring optimal ventilation and conditioned air. Individual zone control can be realized, depending on the type of unit controllers selected, to suit almost every requirement.

The “cross exchange” technology further enhances reliability by avoiding unit shut down caused by anti-freeze alarms. Electronically commutated (EC) fans with innovative profile deliver strong reduction in power inputs and sound emissions.

The new Trane multi-pipe chillers feature Dynamic Logic Control technology, which is an electronic controller optimizing the operation stability by managing the differential of the inlet water temperature based on the speed of its variation.

Available in sizes from 50 to 810 kW, the 17 new scroll compressor and nine new screw compressor multi-pipe chillers form one of the most extensive product ranges on the market.
