UNION CITY, Calif. — Southland Industries, one of the nation’s largest mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contractors, announced that it is uniting its service and building automation controls departments into a single division, called Southland Service. Led by Joe Cvetas, executive vice president, the company said Southland Service will work to amplify the firm’s service and building automation offerings.

Through a more focused and aligned approach, the company said Southland Service will be able to offer customers the same capabilities and quality service no matter which region of the country they reside. Chris Lofaso, newly appointed vice president of service and building automation, will oversee all service and controls related initiatives across the company and will be largely responsible for the growth of the new division. Lofaso comes to Southland with over 30 years of experience in the building technology industry. He is also a registered professional engineer.

“With a strong service and building automation background and a proven track record of running large service and automation operations, I have high expectations for Chris as he grows our service and controls business in the coming years. I am happy to have Chris on board with us and know his success in this role will be a direct effect of the passion he has for helping customers efficiently reach their goals,” said Cvetas.

Cvetas has also hired Ronan O’Mahony as Southland Service’s national sales manager of service and building automation. In addition to concentrating on key customer relationships, O’Mahony will create and implement consistent sales strategies as well as identify new technologies and service solutions for Southland’s customers.

“Our goal is to provide world-class service and make our customers’ lives easier by solving problems. By ensuring their buildings run more efficiently and reliably, we help manage the lifecycle of their buildings,” Cvetas said.
