TORONTO — ecobee announced that Osama Arafat has joined the company as co-chief executive officer. As co-CEO, Arafat will be responsible for leading the product strategy, engineering, and customer care teams and will co-lead the organization with Stuart Lombard as the company prepares for growth as well as the introduction of a new smart thermostat product.

“ecobee is growing at a rapid pace and Osama’s experience of leading high-potential tech companies and taking them to the next level is invaluable as we seize the huge opportunity ahead of us,” said Lombard.

“I’m excited to be joining ecobee at such a defining time in the company’s history,” said Arafat. “Stuart and I have a great history of building successful companies together, and I see enormous opportunity in this organization and industry.”

Prior to joining Q9 Networks, Arafat worked with Lombard as a partner at J.L. Albright Venture Partners where they directed a number of emerging technology companies in Canada. In addition, they previously co-led Isolation Systems, a manufacturer of VPN solutions that was acquired by Shiva Corp.
